Mrs. Spencer was a great teacher she always cared about the kids she taught. I remember the last time I saw her was at David Godfrey’s funeral and we were walking up the lane to the cemetery for the graveside service, she was so upset she was so sad. I had never seen her like that. That was something students don’t see , the teachers they have showing emotions and I helped her walk up that lane while she cried and cried. It is hard to believe that she’s gone she just was a great teacher n a great person. God rest her soul.

Mrs. Spencer was one of the best teachers I have ever had. She loved her students and was always so kind to everyone.

I taught with Mrs. Spencer for several years. Janet was a kind and creative teacher. Her artistic abilities were embodied in all she did. Her students gained from her in many ways. Rest in peace Janet.

So sorry to hear this news. She was my 5th and 6th grade teacher and a mentor for all my years in Elizabeth City. Mrs Spencer was always willing to go the extra mile to help her students.

Mrs. Spencer was one of a kind and could always get the best out of her students. Through the years there are many teachers that I I don’t remember but she is one I will never forget. I will always appreciate the way she spent time with me when it came to my love of all things art.
