Mona “Lisa” Burd, 67 of Grandy, NC passed from this life on January 20, 2022, with her husband and her two children by her side. She was born January 20, 1955, in Washington, DC to Ismeal Lazo and Edith Lazo who preceded her in death along with her father-in-law, Herbert Burd, her brother, Venancio “Vick”. She was child number nine of eleven. Lisa enjoyed bowling and camping with her husband and always looked forward to their Yogi Bear vacations.
She is survived by her beloved husband of over forty years, Herbert Burd Sr.; her daughter, Sandy; her son, Herbert, Jr., and fiancé Heather; ten beautiful grandchildren; her sisters, brothers, mother, brother, sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel Memorial Gardens in Grandy, NC. The family has requested if attending the service to please wear something yellow to represent Lisa’s love for Tweety Bird. Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is serving the Burd family. You may express condolences to the family by visiting www.TwifordFH.com.

My condolences and prayers to Mona’s family. Mona was a dedicated worker, a wonderful friend and a pure joy to be around. Her warm smile and inviting personality was always a beacon of sunshine for our hard days at Walmart. In our sorrow we know God has gained an angel.
Mona was a wonderful person. We worked together a long time. I’m so sorry for your loss. All of you are in my prayers.

Mona Lisa was my best friend at walmart we shared a lot with each other we had cancer at same time I will cherish her love forever and will miss her dearly and her love for tweety bird was great and will always think of her as I always do when I see one love you all prayers and I know I will see her again one day prayers for Herb and kids and family
