Moses Rountree Bright, 76 of 607 Okisko Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, July 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Perquimans County April 2, 1942 to the late Melvin Edmond Bright and Lucy Hope White Bright and was the husband of Barbara Ann Higgins Bright, for fifty years, of Elizabeth City, NC. He was a retired self-employed logger and worked for several years as a recycling attendant with Pasquotank County Waste Management. He served in the N.C. National Guard and was a member of Parksville Holiness Church. Moses loved the Lord and going to church. He was very outgoing, loved people, goats, gardening, and giving away vegetables.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Tanya Bright Byrum and husband Bernard, Jr. of Tyner, NC; two sons, Steven Wayne Bright and Timothy Moses Bright both of Elizabeth City, NC; five grandchildren, Amber, Courtney, Brandon, Hunter, and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Yori and Carter; two sisters -in-law, Mary Lee Bright and Teenie Bright; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Beverly; and three brothers, Calvin, Vance, and Wayne.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Parksville Holiness Church with the Rev. Stuart Meads officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service and at other times at the residence.
