Twiford Funeral Homes’ Tripp Harrison and Roy Riddick performed a concert of “Oldies but Goodies” at Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church to entertain participants in the GEM Day Services program.
GEM Day Services is a non-profit organization that helps those facing challenges related to memory loss and dementia. Music has long been proven to access the cognitive abilities of even the most advanced dementia patients. And music did its magic on Saturday, September 17, 2022, as the GEM participants turned out for a healthy dose of great music from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Roy Riddick sang some beautiful tunes that brought back fond memories for everyone in attendance.
GEM participants were not the only guests in attendance, either. Music lovers from as far away as Swan Quarter make the hours-long drive to hear Tripp and Roy serenade them with their “electronic orchestra!” A great time was had by all!
This concert is part of Twiford Funeral Homes’ We Care Community Outreach Program. This program brings the healing and relaxing power of music to the communities served by Twiford with concerts, music classes, and other events. These events and activities are offered at no cost by Twiford Funeral Homes, who have been serving Northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks since 1933! Twiford’s mantra, “We Care,” rings true – they are a proud member of the Greater Outer Banks Community and they know that giving back to the people is what being a community “family” is all about.
Twifords’ next event is scheduled for 11:00 am on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Bethany United Methodist Church. Click here to see the flyer – https://www.twifordfh.com/TwifordsBethanyConcert
