Patricia Jacobs Brown, 80 of 102 Country Club Drive, Elizabeth City, NC went to meet her Lord on July 10, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Brown, a native of Pasquotank County, was born June 29, 1937 to the late Elliott Whitehurst Jacobs and Minnie Leona Long Jacobs. She was a partner and accountant with her brother at Rusty Jacobs Financial Planner for twenty-five years and a member of Pilmoor Memorial United Methodist Church. Patricia graduated from Elizabeth City High School in 1955 and attended College of the Albemarle and Kings Business College in Raleigh.
Patricia’s hobbies were auctions and cooking. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends when she could. She loved for her caregivers to read the newspapers to her to keep her abreast of current events. She also loved working with family and especially her friend of many years, Debbie Swanson. Her greatest joys were her cats, Sandy, Mack, and Sadie. Patricia had an unwavering faith in God.
She is survived by a brother, Rusty Jacobs of Camden, NC; six nephews, four great nephews, two great nieces; a great great nephew; a great great niece; and a devoted friend of four years, Mary Griffin, who will miss her dearly. Patricia’s caregivers of many years who provided assistance with her care until her passing were Shara Slaughter, Machelle Moore, Celeste Riddick, Marvinia Griffin, and Cheryl Morrison. Her adopted granddaughters, Amari Whidbee and Alejhah Whidbee, loved and cared for her for the last four years of her life. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Elton E. Hassell; her second husband, Charles E. Brown; her son, George F. Meade, III; and a brother, Luther Ray Jacobs.
A funeral service will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the Whitehurst Family Cemetery in Elizabeth City, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the funeral home lobby and after that a visitation at her residence.
