Raymond George Thoms, Sr., 90 of 295 Maple Road, Maple, NC died Friday, February 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his residence. He was born October 28, 1930 in Blue Island, IL to the late Theodore Otto Thoms and Bobbie Hoyer Thoms and was the widower of Shirley Godfrey Thoms. He was an elevator mechanic, a US Navy Veteran, Chief Petty Officer, Electrician’s Mate, and a deacon and member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine Ann Thoms of Maple, NC and Jeannie Lynn Ward (Gus) of Powells Point, NC; two sons, Raymond George Thoms, Jr., of Chesapeake, VA and David Brian Thoms of Norfolk, VA.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed in the Facebook group Rehoboth Baptist Church – Maple, NC.
