Condolence from NCDOT FERRY DIVISION FAMILY on October 21st, 2019 9:19 am

Clay was one of our finest employees and chief engineers that will truly be missed. There are no words for this loss not only for our division, but especially Hatteras Operation and the employees he worked with. He always had a smile and was not only a great employee but was a mentor to those that worked with and around him. He loved his family and friends deeply and there was nothing he would not do to help any of them as he would also a complete stranger in need. May the memories come sooner than later that will bring a smile to your face, laughter to your voice – even through the tears – on things Clay would say or do, for these are what will carry all that knew him through. Through your love and God’s grace may you find some peace

Condolence from Courtney on October 21st, 2019 7:44 pm

Clay was an awesome person to work with an someone to hang out with after work. I met clay in 2015 whenever started working for the Ferry Division. Most kind hearted person someone could ever meet. Always made time for his friends and family during and after work. A hard worker from the ferry to lowing yards. Taken from us way too soon and way too young. My heart breaks for his family especially for his two sons Austin and Jackson, his grandson Camden, and his granddaughter who would’ve missed a great man. We love and miss you Clay.
