Twiford Funeral Homes to
Honor Over 500 Veterans
December 12, 2015 – 12 noon – New Hollywood Cemetery
Twiford Funeral Homes and New Hollywood Cemetery are honored to be sponsors of Wreaths Across America. A nonprofit organization, Wreaths Across America began in 1992 to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Twiford Funeral Homes, along with the VFW Post 6060 and numerous volunteers will lay over 500 wreaths across veterans graves at New Hollywood Cemetery on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon.
Wreaths Across America’s mission is “Remember, Honor, Teach.” To remember our fallen heroes through special memorials, State House ceremonies in all 50 states and “The World’s Largest Veterans Parade” beginning in Harrington, Maine and traveling to Arlington National Cemetery. To honor our veterans through public outreach, press coverage and numerous campaigns such as “Thanks a Million.” And to teach our younger generations the value of their freedom and the importance of honoring those that made that possible. In 2013, 540,000 wreaths were placed across veterans graves in all 50 states.
Twiford Funeral Homes, the areas exclusive provider for Veterans Funeral Care, promotes several campaigns throughout the year to honor our nation’s heroes such as; “Operation Toy Solider” a holiday toy drive for local children of deployed and non-deployed soldiers and “Retire Your Flag with Honor” the communities first flag retirement campaign designed to honor a Veteran while properly disposing of a worn American flag.
All are invited to attend our area’s first annual Wreaths Across America ceremony and help share in remembering and honor our veterans this Christmas season. For more information or to volunteer, contact David Twiford, (252) 335-4395, or Lisa Brown, (757) 619-8064.
