Condolence from Jim Hurdle on June 20th, 2015 7:32 pm

Pierce family: Eddie has been a family friend for many, many years, he was just a little older than my sister Judy Hurdle Edwards, went to Central High School together . He would stop by our hardware store to visit with my mother and father at times. The last time I was with Eddie was at Erps and he was telling stories about what he needed to do for his mother. Eddie always had interesting stories. He will be missed by many people , he was known by many and loved by all who knew him. May your belief in a superior being be a comfort in this your time of need.

Condolence from Billy (Arthur W.) & Eloise Player on June 20th, 2015 11:12 pm

Eddie has always been a special friend since meeting him as a junior at Central High in 1957. He and
William Earl Cooper and I were like the Three Musketeers…we were always together, and we have
always remained special friends thru all these years. And we have always loved Hannah as a special
friend. Elizabeth City will never be the same without Eddie. We love you and know Eddie will
be sorely missed by all of you. We will always be missing him, too. May God be with you at this time ,
especially tomorrow on Father’s Day. We are so sorry for your loss. Love & God Bless!!

Condolence from Millie and Don Sweetenham on June 21st, 2015 7:25 am

God saw Eddie getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So, He put His arms aroung him
And whispered, “Come with me”.

With tearful eyes
We watched him,
And saw him pass away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts
To proved to us,
He only takes the best.

Mrs. Pierce – I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Pierce’s passing. I worked most of those 30 years with him at the Health Department. He took his job very seriously, but always had a smile on his face. He adored “Little Eddie” and “the Baby” (Cindy). He never left you without speaking those famous words – “HAVE FUN.” Now I can say – “Mr. Pierce, I hope you “have fun” in heaven. He will be missed

Condolence from Frances Pollock on June 22nd, 2015 11:30 pm

Dear Hannah and Family,

We were so sorry to learn of Eddie’s loss. I knew him from childhood as our families attended Berea Baptist Church, and we went all the way through Central High School together. My husband looked forward to seeing Eddie at each class reunion. Even they were from opposite ends of the state, they seemed to have similar experiences and enjoyed lively conversations and laughter together. We will miss him. Your family and you are in our thoughts and prayers, and we are very sorry that we can’t make it to the funeral tomorrow.

Condolence from Mary Lee Howell on June 23rd, 2015 1:36 pm

Dear Aunt Hannah, Cindy, Eddie, Steve, Angie, Stephanie, Chris, James, Amber and Marie,

UNCLE EGGY as my girls used to call him will surely be missed. He brought many smiles and laughter to the hearts of Shannan, Lauren and Ashley over the years. They prepared him for Grandparent status and I think they did a good job. The love of a husband, dad, and Grandfather is one of the most special relationships and will be so missed by those who knew and loved him. Don’t forget to reach out to family and friends in times of sadness and let us share our memories that will once again put a smile on your face. His generosity and thoughtfulness will live forever within the lives it touched.
